Turning inclusion from a value into meaningful action.
✓ Adopted Port Coquitlam’s first Accessibility Action Plan
✓ Established the City’s first Accessibility Committee, bringing lived experience into the conversation
✓ Introduced sensory-friendly recreation opportunities and more inclusive programming
✓ Continued improving the accessibility of civic facilities, playgrounds and public spaces
✓ Expanded supports to help children and youth with disabilities participate in recreation and arts programs
✓ Improved access to recreation for residents facing financial barriers

✓ Streamlined the City’s community event intake process, making it easier for organizations to bring events and celebrations to Port Coquitlam
✓ Expanded opportunities for community-led events in City parks, streets and public spaces
✓ Helped establish the revitalized Leigh Square as a hub for festivals, events and everyday community activity
✓ Conducted a review of the City’s event portfolio to streamline budgets, maximize impact and improve the community experience
✓ Supported a growing mix of festivals, cultural celebrations, markets, music and community events
✓ Established a new City sponsorship program to offset event costs while creating meaningful opportunities for local businesses to participate and gain exposure
✓ Continued investing in events as a way to animate our downtown, support local business and bring neighbours together
Housing & Childcare
1,266 Net new homes approved in 2024–25

583 new licensed childcare spaces — exceeding the City’s 2025 target two years early

✓ Approved a record 779 net new homes in 2024, more than double the previous 10-year annual average
✓ Approved another 487 net new homes in 2025, bringing the 2024–25 total to 1,266
✓ Streamlined development approvals through online applications, improved front-counter triage and solution-based reviews
✓ Expanded housing choices and continued implementing the City’s Housing Needs Report
✓ Continued implementing the Child Care Action Plan and advocating for more childcare spaces
✓ Planned for growth with the understanding that housing, childcare, recreation, transportation and community amenities need to grow together

✓ Approved 500,000 sq. ft. of new commercial and industrial space in 2024
✓ Continued investing in downtown revitalization, parking and public spaces that support surrounding businesses

✓ Continued shop-local initiatives, Best Biz Awards and direct business communications
✓ Supported improvements to development and permitting processes to make it easier to invest and do business in PoCo

Transportation & Infrastructure
$150M+ approved for capital investment since 2022
$9.6M in federal funding secured for major flood-mitigation work
480 potholes and 100+ lanes repaired during the 2025 three-day blitz

✓ Advanced major Kingsway Avenue improvements, including traffic-flow, intersection, sidewalk and multi-use pathway upgrades
✓ Continued investing in roads, sidewalks, pedestrian safety, traffic calming and active transportation
✓ Adopted and began implementing a new Master Transportation Plan
✓ Continued advocacy for a SkyTrain extension to Port Coquitlam and better regional transportation connections
✓ Advanced major Cedar Creek and Maple Creek flood-protection projects
✓ Strengthened emergency flood response with new pumps, tiger dams and other equipment
✓ Continued investing in drainage, sewer and other essential infrastructure needed to support a growing city
✓ Expanded everyday services including curbside glass recycling and large-item pickup
Parks, Sports & Recreation
$6.7M in provincial funding toward Gates Park improvements
$3M in provincial funding toward the covered Multi-Use Sports Facility

✓ Advanced the new Gates Park Soccer Hub, including a synthetic turf field, grandstand, changerooms, pickleball courts and improved pathways
✓ Approved and began advancing the new covered Multi-Use Sports Facility for year-round sport and recreation
✓ Completed PoCo Climb, creating a new connected trail experience in the Mary Hill area
✓ Added and improved dog parks, pickleball courts, playgrounds, trails and neighbourhood recreation amenities
✓ Continued investing in accessible and inclusive recreation opportunities for residents of different ages and abilities
✓ Secured millions in provincial funding for major recreation projects, reducing the amount local taxpayers have to carry
